Bones John Dillinger Refrence
Seeing as I was meeting Johnny Depp on Monday, I had to watch Bones at a later date online. I thought it was pretty cool when I noticed a John Dillinger poster hanging on the wall behind Agent Booth's desk in his FBI office. I never noticed it before, but with all the "Public Enemies" stuff going on, I suppose it jumped out at me. This is from the episode "Man in the Mud," which you can watch online at Fox.com

The Production Coordinator of Bones Rocks!
In other exciting news this week, On Tuesday night I had the amazing opportunity to speak with Bones Production Coordinator Lisa Ripley-Becker in a short interview I was doing for a paper assigned in my Television Production class. We were given the assignment of analyzing the production of a television show, and after unsuccessfully trying to contact Heroes (they are on hiatus until they begin filming for the fall), I contacted 20th Century Fox and the Bones production office. The assistant I spoke to happened to be an alumni of UW-Madison, and she set up the interview for me. I was instructed to call back at a designated later time, and sure enough I got to speak with her for about 25 minutes! She was very nice and very helpful; you could tell she genuinely loved her job, and I was extremely grateful that she would take the time to speak to me. Other people in my class had a really hard time contacting anyone (although a few different students contacted various Production personnel from The Office) and I was just very excited that I had the chance to make a great contact.
To see a list of her credits click here!
So be sure to watch Bones, currently on Monday nights at 8 on Fox, and check out the first two seasons if you aren't caught up! I'll let you know how my paper does...

I Met Johnny Depp!
I have been slacking with the new blog this week, because so many AWESOME things have happened lately. Mainly GETTING TO MEET JOHNNY DEPP ON MONDAY! As I've previously blogged, and I'm sure everyone in Wisconsin knows, "Public Enemies" has been filming in Oshkosh this week. I went down to the set every day from Sunday to Wednesday, sometimes more than once. (My school schedule prohibited me from being a crazy film student stalker...but I got pretty close!) Monday was the magic day apparently, as a major bank/chase scene was shot in the morning (which I was not present for :( And Johnny graciously came out to greet the fans Monday night. At that point, there were not a whole lot of people there. Probably between 100-200, only two or three people deep behind the barricades. My friend and I were watching out the windows of the library, that happened to be conveniently located near shooting, and we came out to see people beginning to gather. Someone said that Johnny was supposedly doing a meet and greet, and we walked right up to the front of the barricades. I was actually standing just in front of a line of caution tape, and when he did actually come out, I was inches from him!
Now, I highly respect Johnny as an actor, none of the crazy screaming fan stuff for me, but it was pretty cool that he came out to say hi to all of us. They didn't allow autographs or personal photos (even though a girl next to me tried...and ruined it a bit) but he shook hands, exchanged a word here and there, and seemed really nice even as his handler was hustling him down the line. Thankfully, through the magic of my wonderful video camera that my parents helped fund (Thanks!) I caught it all on tape. You can see that I was plainly about 5 inches from his face, and although I am calm as he comes by, my friend Krista can attest to the fact that I was jumping up and down a bit as he left and the crowd dispersed. Who wouldn't be a little star struck by Johnny Depp?

Anthony Stewart Head in Sweeney Todd!
I was just watching Sweeney Todd, and suddenly realized that Anthony Steward Head (Giles BtVS) has a cameo appearance! At around 38:27 he appears; the man who asks if Todd has his own establishment after the showdown with Pierelli. (This photo does not belong to me, it belongs to Dreamworks/Warner Brothers, whoever, and no infringement is implied.)
Heroes is Coming Back With a Bang!
Following NBC's "upfront" announcements concerning their fall line up, a lot of great news has surfaced about the Heroes universe. Apparently the show will be returning September 15th, with a one hour clip show (recap) followed by a two hour premier! NBC has ordered 24 episodes of the original "Heroes", and has also green-lighted the spin off "Heroes:Origins" which will be a six episode mini series that introduces a new character each week. "Origins" will take "Heroes" time slot during the inevitable rerun times when the show has to catch up with its production schedule.
I think the writers strike break will ultimately help "Heroes" return to its innovative roots, and give the fans what they have come to expect from the quality show. Following a lackluster second season, I am quite sure that the show will return with a bang, seeing as this volume is officially titled "Heroes:Villains." Bring on the Sylar! I don't know how Zach Quinto's involvement with the new Star Trek Movie will effect the season, but I think I can find it in my heart to forgive Sylar being absent for a few episodes in exchange for Quinto as Spock!
Anyways, I am excited, and you should be too! If you aren't familiar with the show, go find the first season, and prepare to be hooked. Set aside a few days so you can watch it consecutively. Trust me, you won't be able to stop.

"Public Enemies"
As most Wisconsinites know, the film "Public Enemies" has become the first major production to come to Wisconsin since we began offering production tax breaks. The movie first filmed in Columbus, WI, and is soon moving to Oshkosh to shoot. Seeing as I am currently living about a mile from downtown Oshkosh where the film is being shot, I have been positively EXPLODING with excitement. They are currently building and creating 1930's storefronts onto existing buildings. A large sign currently reads "Main street will be closed from April 10 through April 20." Presumably the movie will be filming during this time. Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cottiard, and David Wenham are all involved in this project, and the fact that they will be within my own personal stratosphere is awesome. I recently took some pictures of the sets in progress, and hope to visit a few more times as the production draws near.

Actors from Wisconsin
Throughout my various research, I've discovered that quite a few well known actors originate from Wisconsin. I was surprised to see some of the people on this list, and it just goes to show that successful people in Hollywood do come from Wisconsin. (The characters/projects I've listed next to each is simply where I know them from. I'm sure they have much more interesting and varied work out there.)
Eric Szmanda (Greg Sanders-CSI)-Mukwonago
Tony Shaloub (Monk)-Green Bay
Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin-Spider Man)-Appleton
Jane Kaczmarek (Lois-Malcom in the Middle)-Greenfield
Mark Ruffalo (13 Going on 30)-Kenosha
Pretty cool...
Silver DVD's
Has anyone noticed that there are lots of new release dvd's lately that have the plain silver/gray color and silver lettering? Sweeney Todd, Atonement, No Country for Old Men and Transformers all have this boring design. Was there some sort of sale on silver dvd's? I suppose it really doesn't matter, just something I noticed. I'm crazy that way.
